And then upon exiting I launched dgVoodooSetup and reconfigured 4K resolution at 3840x2160 and WOW now the game no longer crashes when I press ESC for Inventory or P for pause menu and it's Full Screen at 4K Resolution! Ran the game and like magic game runs Full Screen with correct aspect ratio no more crashing.Īnyway the game did crash on the inventory. I just ran the dgvoodoosetup file as Admin & forced 3840x2160 resolution.

This should apply for Steam install location as well. All I had to do was download dgVoodoo 2 from Īfter that I simply placed the dgVoodoo2 files inside the Tomb Raider Last Revelation folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Core Design\Tomb Raider - The Last Revelation. For anyone out there looking to solve this Full Screen problem. But I know Tomb Raider is a little older than these games.įinally I fixed the crashing and Full Screen / Aspect rato issue after many hours of struggle. Tons of old games like Max Payne 1/2 run fine on Windows 8.1/10. Step 1: you can start by downloading a reliable and bug free emulator. I know it should work because I played Tomb Raider Chronicles like over a decade ago on Windows Vista and it ran perfectly and I completed it just fine. The solution by CamChan is not really a solution. Main menu appears fine but when I enter the game I notice the loading bar cuts off and the aspect ratio is totally broken. If I try to run at a lower resolution like 1600x900 then game will not launch accurately. Trying to run this on 4K resolution makes it freeze with a black screen and DirectX error.

I have tried troubleshooting for hours how to get them to run properly. They previously did when I had Windows 7 and I cannot even apply the official patches that appear on the DVD. The problem is that the Retail DVD versions of these games do not run natively on Windows 8.1 and I guess it's the same for 10. I have Retail DVD versions of Tomb Raider 3 and Tomb Raider 4 The Last Revelation 2 packs on 1 DVD by Sold-Out.

I think the problem is that the full screen is not supported but the windowed mode allows to start and play the game normally. => About the game's settings, I chose "windowed", I set everything to "32 bit", and finally, I chose a screen 1024x768 and I got a satisfying screen.Īt least, now I can play on something ! With a black wallpaper on my desktop, it does the work. I had same problems, noticed that this worked for other TR titles and tried it, set options and then it worked." "TR Last Revelation, select properties, set launch options, type : -setup.exe, click OK and then close and try to relaunch. I clicked as following (an old message told to do so) : I found an alternative : I'm on win 10, directX 12, and I chose Windows98 compatibility mode directly on the game's application in its steam folder (I don't know if it plays a role in the success) then I got back on steam :
